faucet47custom Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 I ordered a kit online and when it came in it wasn't the right one. I didn't look at it for a few weeks after getting it in so I can't return it. It looks exactly like the photo for the king pin kit you can order from Rockauto. Anyone know where I can source the correct replacement kit for a 47 dodge D24? Quote
suntennis Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 You do not say why your king pin kit is wrong. When I got such a kit, the bushings were small enough that by hand you could push them thru the spindle openings. When measured, they were about 0.002 inches smaller than the spindle openings. I bought a second king pin set from probably Roberts and it came with two sets of bushings. One set was the same as I already had and the other set were the correct ones that had to be pressed into the spindle prior to reeming. My guess is that early cars may have used the smaller bushings. Outside of bushings, both kits were the same. Another thing that was learned was, install parts soon after you buy them so that if there is a problem the return period will not have run out. Quote
Don Coatney Posted February 25, 2011 Report Posted February 25, 2011 Do you actually need new king pins or just king pin bushings? If you need bushings only most any good machine shop should be able to supply them and ream them too. Quote
