Gentlemen,

I wonder if anyone could please tell me if there is supposed to be a support under the hood, mounted to the hood, between the hinges?

This would be up against the cowl . I would imagine it would be a stamping contoured to the hood giving support and allowing for proper squareness, as it were.

Im having a heck of a time getting the nose and associated sheetmetal to line up properly, wondering if this might be part of the problem,

Thanks Russ

Some of the P15s had a hood brace, but at some point (I don't know

when) they discontinued them. If the car had a brace originally, there

would be two predrilled holes in the hood hinge to attach them.

Here's a shot of the brace showing the channel used to give it

strength.

And there is an L bracket which attaches to the hood seam and to

the brace.

I saw a car recently where an owner had used a metal tube welded to the

hood edges to make his own brace.

Hi

Hey thank-you for the quick response . Im going to take a look and see if any of the tell tale signs are present. i dont believe there was ever one present, as I surely wouldnt have removed it.

I had the nose off for a couple of seasons to upgrade the motor and suspension, next thing you know the nose has taken a tweak and just does not sit the same as the factory install.

Thanks again ,Russ

Don't feel bad Russ, mine's doing the same thing since I put the front clip back on. The left side of the hood to fender has too big of a gap. I can't get rid of it. We probably have to loosen the hood panel bolts and jockey it around 'till it finds its spot.

Tommy, If you ever figure out how to get that gap out, let me know. Mine has the same problem and it drives me nuts. Anybody else out there have any alignment ideas for this problem? One side fits fine, other side has a big gap between fender and hood bottom. Thanks, George
