Normspeed Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Wow! OK guys, I'll kick in $5.00, let's go. Quote
Guest tagree01 Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 That is quite possibly the most amazing thing I have seen. I couldn't even imagine a yard having that many pre-war cars. Wow!! If I had the money I'd buy it right now. Quote
1just4don Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 I will SEE your $5. and raise you $20!! d~) d~) d~). HATE to ask, they have to have an asking price,,,any body have a clue?? HOW would you arrive at a proper price for this??? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 You folks just pool your money..send me..I will take plenty of pictures, save you from the possible leg cramps from wakling..and the most important reason is..my TETNUS shot is current.. Quote
Guest tagree01 Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 I contacted them for information. Waiting to hear back. They have 2 Cords and a couple of Zephyrs. I'm in Dallas, so if it is in OK I will go there ASAP and check it out. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Yeah.....how would you price that???? Come on lottery --- Quote
thedahmer Posted March 21, 2007 Author Report Posted March 21, 2007 I also have contacted them for a price-- I am willing to spend a pretty penny-- Quote
PatS.... Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 It just amazes me that these kind of places still exist. These people want to sell as a business and yet some businesses are having the inventory crushed. I just get confused. I would love to spend a few years running a place like this. Quote
Normspeed Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 I've read some discussion on other boards that although these older yards were grandfathered in when enviro laws tightened up, that a new owner faces some pretty insurmountable hurdles in dealing with the EPA. Don't have any personal experience with that though. If you could get a collection like this one you would be set for life, given the state of the market and the upward trends on anything that ain't bein' made anymore. Quote
1just4don Posted March 21, 2007 Report Posted March 21, 2007 Can you imagine how many hoops and how the neighbors would howl if you wanted to start a place like this. the 'Nimbys' would EAT you alive!! I can hear it already!! Hope this place is still old school as far as zoning and permits wise or else I bet this will become crushers all too soon. "IF" you were 'required' by local officials to cease and desist and get rid of everything within say 3 or 4 months ,,,how else would they do that?? And would city or county officials give a rats pajammas how many millions of dollars went down the drain and are lost 'forever'??? Gee, I hope this is in a real 'lightly' populated area,,,its about the ONLY hope of 'saving the relics'. Quote
PatS.... Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 The hoops that these kind of businesses have to go through around here has caused most to shut down, even some long time businesses have thrown up their hands and given up. No new yards have started in about 30 years here. I hope this sale goes through and the cars and parts end up available. Quote
james curl Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Around my part of the country when one of these yards is forced to close the owners usually advertize and auction each car or lot of parts. Usually draws a big crowd and every thing goes to a new home. Some last for a couple of days like some big farm machinery auctions do. Had one in Kerrville, Texas a few months ago and I was told everything went, no crusher needed. Quote

thedahmer Posted March 23, 2007 Author Report Posted March 23, 2007 Got a reply-- $900K---for all or best offer---- I am going to try to go out there and look at it in a couple of weeks-- Quote
Guest tagree01 Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 They also said they were going to hold an auction if there were no investors to buy the whole collection. My request for pictures of the Cords and the bootlegger car was ignored. Quote
thedahmer Posted March 23, 2007 Author Report Posted March 23, 2007 I will take some pictures when I go= 900K is a lot of money but I really think that I can make several fold o it -properly marketed- Quote
Guest tagree01 Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 I'd love to see the place, and I live in Dallas, so I might be able drive up and help you catalog stuff or whatever (if you need). I was thinking about trying to make a bid on the place because I'm having a hard time finding a real job in my chosen profession, but that is too far out of my league. It wouldn't be fair for me to ask them for a tour since I am not a serious bidder, but I'd LOVE to see the place. It looks like heaven to me.
