old rat 49 Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 Thinking about doing the Army Staff Car look as my Teardrop camper is done in that theme. I'm retired Army living in an Army town. They would go together and the painted bumpers and trim would help with the rusted and damaged trim that I have. Think the two together would be too much ? My tear is authentic post WWII to end of Vietnam color and markings. I do know they had two door staff cars that were used for junior grade officers and they must have still had some in use for several years after the war so I don't think I would be stretching things to do my P15 as such. BobT-47P15 Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 (edited) Probably be allright to do the Army theme. Should stand out at any car show you attend. I have a friend who did a 41 Ford fourdoor up in Army green with a star on the door. The only one like it. He has now sold it and I don't know if the buyer will continue with the military theme. Charlie Olson Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 Definitely consider the Army look. You'll be invited to be in every Veterans Day and Memorial Day parade, within 500 miles and that is a good thing, as our country is reverting back to being more patriotic. Quote
WatchingWolf Posted December 22, 2010 Report Posted December 22, 2010 go for it....worst case scenario, flat paint is a good base coat for something else...... Quote

old rat 49 Posted December 22, 2010 Author Report Posted December 22, 2010 (edited) Bob T; That's the picture that really caught my eye. My Tear gets enough attention going down the road or in the campgrounds so it couldn't be much worse with a matching tow vehicle. Even though there are Military Specs for OD of differrent periods the colors varied a lot do to what was available. I usually go to my favorite hobby shop to get an example of the color I want and then take it to paint store to have them match it. Those military modelers put a lot of research into their work. Sizes of lettering and stars has remained fairly standard throughout the years. The picture is of a 5 by 9 foot trailer but will build another 4 by 8 to pull with P15 to keep the weight down. Only problem is finding the darn thing in a pitch black state park at night. Edited December 22, 2010 by old rat 49 Quote
