47heaven Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Not sure if this has been posted already of not, but there is a gentleman up in Oregon that has reproduced new P15 hood springs to match the original ones. He currently has two sets up for bid on Ebay, but also will sell them direct for $45 per set, plus shipping and handling. Here's the Ebay auction. Contact him from there. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1946-1947-1948-Plymouth-Hood-Hinge-Springs-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQfitsZMakeQ3aPlymouthQQhashZitem45f6bbc0d9QQitemZ300492243161QQptZVintageQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Quote

47heaven Posted November 19, 2010 Author Report Posted November 19, 2010 now that should be a welcomed item..they are getting harder and harder to find.. More like a godsend, if anything. Now we don't have to pay over $100 to have them made. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 I sent him a message thru ebay asking if he thought that company could make a new pair of counterbalance springs for my convertible top mechanism. Mine are gone. Tried to replace them with some other type spring which was not strong enough. Gave him some info on the springs as found in the Parts Manual. Be interesting to see. Quote
Drdialtone Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Speaking of things relating to Plymouth hoods... I have a 47 P15SC and the hood has a cross bar at the rear of the hood. I am missing the vertical attaching plate from the seam of the hood to the cross bar. Anyone have one of these or know where to look? Possible method to reproduce? Thanks!! Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 It's basically real simple.......an "L" shaped piece of metal. Just needs to have a little strength. A couple holes in one end to attach to the hood seam. A hole in the bottom part to bolt to the cross piece. I believe the cross piece has an oblong hole to use for some side to side adjustment. Quote
Drdialtone Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Thanks Bob! The picture is just what I need to fabricate one to fit. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 The bracket by itself. It has an edge turned up for strength. It actually has a captive nut, but a nut and bolt could be used. Quote
