So heavy, so somber, the first time I went was to escort my father so that he did not have to see what he called roll call in black by himself.

As I laid back a discreet distance he saw and talked to his buds on the wall for about 3 hours or so then walked past me on his way to my truck, he was not to utter a word for the rest of the day....He never came to terms with The Nam, but just knowing that the monument was there gave him a little solace.

My father was a good man that saw some bad times, Korea then volunteered for Vietnam.
