hi, i have a 1947 plymouth with good drums and maybe good brake pads but i can not get the drums to come off and i don't want to break anything trying to remove them, what is the secret to getting these brake drums off.

To remove the rears you will need a special tool. It is a very heavy duty puller and is activated using a large sledge hammer. They are on real tight. In the past we have discussed many ways to remove them and a search of the archives will lead you to some of these.

Check with your nearest rental center and they usually will have one. This is no big special tool made just for removing brake drums but can be used for various task in the industrial world. I rented my hub puller and I think it was around 15 dollars a day or so. Good luck:) Jon
