41/53dodges Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 i never rebuilt the carb in my truck, its just the same as it was 30 years ago and runs great, but it is now starting to dissolve the old gaskets and whatnot, so i was debating whether to rebuild the stock carter carb or put on the aftermarket holley glass bowl carb that i have laying around. would it be worth considering performance-wise or should i just go stock? dontknowitall Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 I rebuilt mine with a complete overhaul kit..Stick to the original I think.. Quote
Dave72dt Posted September 1, 2010 Report Posted September 1, 2010 Rebuild the stock. You won't gain anything performance wise with the glass bowl. I think the glass bowl was a stock item on other brand vehicles for a couple years-early sixties. Quote
41/53dodges Posted September 1, 2010 Author Report Posted September 1, 2010 alright, then in that case, what would dual stock carters do for me? Quote
Dave72dt Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 Freeing up the exhaust with duals will help more than the dual carbs. Like is commonly said, the engine is just an air pump. Capacity to get more air in doesn't mean a lot until you have the capacity to get the extra air out. Quote
