I want to try this manifold out on my 230 engine in my 38 Coupe and wondered if ya thought an original 56 Plymouth carb would work any better than one of the Langdon 2 bbls. Anyone know the type of carb that was originall used on the 56?

carter bbr. same as what was run on the small v8 in 56. I got a rebuild kit for my 56 engine's carb and it came with the stuff for the two bbl. I think it is still here if you want it, let mr know.

You can probably use any 2bbl from a 273/318. Think they were also used on the /6 power pack equiped deals. Should be availabe in the millions in bone yards. Common problem is eliptical wear of the hole in the body at the throttle shaft pivot causing eratic idle. Look for ones with good round holes

Reg, how does the size of the center body compare from your 2bbl to a 1bbl? I was thinking it should be possible to mill off the mounting boss on a 1bbl and mount a 2bbl. Could you measure yours for me?

Charlie, The center body on the 2 bbl manifold measures 4" and the center body on my 1 bbl measures 3.25"

Thanks Reg, I guess an intermediate plate would be required if using a 1bbl intake for 2bbl purposes. The Langdon setup looks good and his stuff is well thought out. I suppose the simple route would be via Langdon, but I would like to work out something really simple using existing intake and linkages. It looks like his setup raises the 2bbl carb to the height of the 1bbl carb, that may be a good reason to use an adapter. More thought required on this one. Thanks again.
