Vintrader Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Came across this on EBAY today;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCO9nKVfSCI Quote
MBF Posted August 12, 2010 Report Posted August 12, 2010 Dutch-that'd be the perfect truck to fill that Pilot-house void you're currently experiencing. Mike Quote
Merle Coggins Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 Look again, 6 valve covers. Looks like a 6BT. Other than the steering column and pedals, and the boxed in section of firewall, it looks rather stock. However you can see that it is a Pilot-House cab and front clip on a later model chassis. Nicely done however. I would have repaired the rust and given it a proper paint job, but to each their own. Merle Quote
HanksB3B Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 Also see the fenders are rotted out where they attach to the frame. My truck's fenders were on the way to looking like this. Is this a case of electrolysis and if so what would be a viable solution. Anyone else seen this problem on their truck? Thanks, Hank Quote
MBF Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 (edited) Rust around the rivets is just part of the PH aging process. You'd think on a former firetruck that the problem would be less, mine weren't even that bad. I cut out the rusted sections of the outer skin, and before attaching the brace back on the skin, I used some seam sealer between the two pieces. A real design flaw in my opinion, but who'd a thunk we'd be driving these 60 yrs after they were made. Mike Edited August 13, 2010 by MBFowler Quote
Dave72dt Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 That's a very common rust area. Mine were gone plus the bracket was bad also. The camera was too much all over the place for me to enjoy watching it. Could have spent twice the time and had a much better product. Quote
Olddaddy Posted August 13, 2010 Report Posted August 13, 2010 All he needs now is a set of my disc brakes on the front end.............. Quote
