What are you all using for radios in your pilothouses? I would like to do an original radio but would like some opinions on what is original and what works well?

Also, since I am keeping my b1b a 6 volt system, is there a way to run a modern radio with this???

My truck is still 6v and I am running a modern stereo mounted under the dash on the far left side. I have a 6v - 12v converter mounted up above the radio. It provided enough juice to power the radio plus a power outlet for my GPS/cell phone/etc. I even power my timing light from that outlet when I'm tuning on my engine.

Here is a thread on my efforts.

Bottom line is that I bought a 6 volt Pos gnd to 12v neg grd inverter and I use it to power a radio that I keep in the glove compartment. On the road, the truck is to noisy to hear the dang radio so most of the time is is used to power my gps

...these radios will have a tendency to scare the cr@p out of you. They (or atleast mine) take a while to warm up. Often after I turn on the radio and no sound is immediately produced I quickly forget I have turned on the radio. Within 20 secs or more, sports talk radio starts blaring from the speaker.:D
