Fernando Mendes Posted June 10, 2010 Author Report Posted June 10, 2010 I agree with you Reg.I noticed too that the townwagon's eBay RAM(1954-1957) is not according with this pic that you send to me.In this pic we see that the last RAM with only head is from 1951-53.The others all RAMs are with head and body.Regards. Fernando Mendes Posted June 10, 2010 Author Report Posted June 10, 2010 Reg,I remembered this other pic in my archive I got days ago.The front name plate DODGE is a B4(1953).I think it is from someone of this forum.Regards. Quote
Reg Evans Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 That hood ornament looks great on the 53 but isn't that a 51-52 car ornament ? Quote

Was it part of a cab package or an idividual item and was it available in 1952? Yes it was a extremely rare option and is listed in the Dodge truck parts book. Looks the same as a 1953 dodge car hood ornament but has larger rams. Bob I got the conversation between Dave72dt and Dodgeb4ya. Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted June 10, 2010 Author Report Posted June 10, 2010 isn't that a 51-52 car ornament ? Reg, I saw now various pics in the googlesite, but I couldn't send to you.All the Dodges Coronet 51-52 and 53 have this same ornament with larger RAMS of the red 1953 B4 truck(Dodgeb4ya). Quote
Reg Evans Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 Fernando, Wait before you drill any holes. I have a 52 Dodge truck hood ornament here for you with your name on it. All you gotta pay is the shipping through PayPal. Here it is. Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted June 10, 2010 Author Report Posted June 10, 2010 No Reg thanks,I am very satisfied with mine. When I was trying to buy it here in Mercado Livre web, there was other guy here in São Paulo that said to me:Fernando buy my RAM,because it is the correct for your PU.His RAM is different too he was sure that I will do a good business. He said too that lived during two years in the USA.He was asking $230 for his RAM.I payed $115 for mine and exists one same as yours(1948-1951) in Curitiba-Paraná-Brazil,the owner is asking $120.Did you see the googlesite?I saw a Dodge 1950 car with the same short RAMs like mine.Large RAMS began in 1951 until 1953.:eek:Tomorrow I will study how to drill my hood. Reg Evans Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 Fernando, I tried the google site and the only image that really caught my eye was this one. It's not really stock for your year of truck butt what the heck. It is very ornamental. Quote

Psst..hey kid want to buy a Ram...We have something like that on our border too. Fernando: You should take Reg up on his generous offer. Before you drill any holes you need to make sure the curvature of the hood matches the curvature of which Ram more closely. Just an Idea, Hank Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted June 11, 2010 Author Report Posted June 11, 2010 Before you drill any holes you need to make sure the curvature of the hood matches the curvature of which Ram more closely. I am trying to show you a pic of a B3-B green,I got in this forum, with the same curvature as mine, although with larger RAMS(1951-53) for cars. Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted June 12, 2010 Author Report Posted June 12, 2010 Decided to put a rubber gasket in the RAM. Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted June 13, 2010 Author Report Posted June 13, 2010 The rubber gasket became fair. Quote
Dave72dt Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 Try making a gasket out of an inner tube. Much thinner material and can be cut with a pair of scissors. Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted June 13, 2010 Author Report Posted June 13, 2010 Never saw nor knew this process. Can you show me with pics? Thanks:) Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted June 13, 2010 Author Report Posted June 13, 2010 Dave72dt,what do you think about paint it with chrome spray or let it be unrestorable? Quote
Dave72dt Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 Fernando,I tried the google site and the only image that really caught my eye was this one. It's not really stock for your year of truck butt what the heck. It is very ornamental. [] I can't afford a hood ornament like that! Quote
Dave72dt Posted June 13, 2010 Report Posted June 13, 2010 (edited) I've never seen any chrome spray that really looked liked chrome. The best Ive seen looked like dull aluminum. You can paint it but to make it look right, would have to fill all those pits. I personally would leave it alone or have it rechromed. As far as your gasket goes, start with making a pattern from thin cardboard such as a cereal box. Lay it out over a piece of inner tube, cut gasket and install. You want really thin rubber for that application. An old bicycle tube that is split would be wide enough. You really don't need a gasket in there. None of the badging on the truck has rubber under it. Edited June 13, 2010 by Dave72dt Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted June 14, 2010 Author Report Posted June 14, 2010 Ok dave72dt,I have to make a rubber gasket because the ornament has two different suports.See this pics to you understand.I had to make two differents holes in the rubber gasket. With this rubber gasket I will can make two same diameter holes drilled in the hood.ok? Quote
Dave72dt Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 A larger diameter hole for the front that will let the front mount pedestal drop through the hood with a washer underneath might eliminate the need for the gasket. It can be done either way, gasket or larger hole. Quote
Fernando Mendes Posted June 14, 2010 Author Report Posted June 14, 2010 dave72dt,I want eliminate the larger diameter hole(in REAR,not front) drilled on the hood. With the rubber gasket and the washer underneath I think it will hold the ornament. Quote
