I used the peel and seal type asphalt base stuff on my 88 Dodge Ram...worked very well for sound deadening and did give off the asphalt odor for about a week, then gone.

Nobody who rode in it noticed it either.

Maybe put some of that over the undercoating you have?

No, no smell other than the normal old car smell. Too bad they can't can that smell.

Fred, the ride was a hoot and made my day...actually made my trip worthwhile.

Wouldn't have been able to handle driving!;):D
