48ply1stcar Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 My clutch pedal has been scraping my floor long enough. So I took off the pedal and removed the bushing. Now I have a clutch pedal on a work bench instead of in a car. Has anyone found a place to buy pedal bushings or a replacement bushing that can be modiifed to fix. I paid $75 for this car in 1968, now I can't walk by it for $75. Harold Quote
randroid Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 48ply1stcar, Welcome to the forum! I don't have a specific answer but there are tons of suppliers out there, and within the next few hours you should receive more answers than you need. Where is you at? That's a beautiful ride and it would be great for you to tell us about it. You've had it for longer than a lot of us have had ours and you probably know it as well as many of us know ours, so hunker down and have fun here. -Randy Quote

Oldguy48 Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 McMaster-Carr would likely have a bushing that would work. And their shipping is lightning fast. You can go to their website, and view the catalog. Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 Nice looking car! Where are you located? It would be foolish to go to an antique car vendor for a bushing as most likely the bushing you buy must be reamed to the correct size. Carry your pedal and shaft to any machine shop and have them install a bushing and ream it to size. Most machine shops have a good bushing assortment on hand. Should cost less than twenty bucks and will take about ten minutes to do. Quote
48ply1stcar Posted April 10, 2010 Author Report Posted April 10, 2010 Thanks all for the input. Just to let you know Roberts Motor Parts said they don't stock bushings. I think my best bet is McMaster and Carr or a local distributor. I've owned my 48 for 42 years and it sat in a variety of locations while I spent 20 years in the Army. I started bringing it back to life in the summer of 95 and by 97 I was driving it to work. I've been working on it a couple of hundred dollars at time until I had the floor repaired and rocker panels modified. In 2008 I sent my car to a local guy for body and paint. I did some of the prep and I did the inner fenders. I did enough of the reassembly at the shop to drive the car home and now I still working on the putting it all together and driving it at the same time. I'm in Blaine, MN a suburb of Minneapolis, MN and I've gone to a couple of shows. My main claim to frame with this car is that if you look real close you can see my High School parking permit on the passenger windshield. restoration pictures at http://www.flickr.com/photos/swaniesplymouth/ Quote
