Dennis_MN Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 Drove 75 miles this morning to pickup this disabled motorcycle for my son. He was out for a ride yesterday and his clutch failed. So Dad's old pickup to the rescue. As an aside, I put on 117 miles and got 15.6 mpg. Quote
greg g Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 What Kawi is that?? I have a similar looking one, 78 KZ 650, stealth super bike. Although that appears to be a twin. Common cause of clutch failure in these is use of automotive oil in the crankcase. If it has a wet clutch, it shares oil with the crank. The anti friction additives in the auto oil don't agree with the friction material in the clutch pack. So if you determine that it is a wet clutch set up. make sure you drain the oil and put in some Motorcycle formula oil. Quote
Bob_Koch Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 A great dad with a terrific looking truck. Who can be that combination? Quote

Bates saddlebags from the boneyard with custom mounting and genuine scuff marks. Fairing is a horribly mutilated Hannigan sport fairing - usually found on beamers in it's normal state. Windscreen lovingly crafted from .060: PETG Copoly. One of the UJM wave of the late 70s early 80s. There are LOTS of these out there, I think they were always cheap bikes and now even more so. Not in the sought after segment of jap bikes - but they work pretty darned well for a little bike. Pretty stable at speed. Lightweight, easy to handle. Easy to load into trucks or pick up after dropping. Much to be desired in a cheap, cheap ride. (Input from my son John) Quote
