Painting the Job Rated Trim Plate

How did they paint the job rated trim plate in the factory? Did they have a sticker that was a perfect fit for the straight lines and the script or use some other method?

I taped mine off with the blue painters tape and then sprayed the rest of it with an alum. colored spraypaint.

From this far, it looks pretty good...but you get within a few feet it's just not clean.

from the picture's perspective, that looks great! are your trim bars dented or is that just the picture?

The trim piece has dents..the silver color really makes them stand out.

I used Sign Painters One Shot and a small brush.

The pinstripes on the front grill look really nice.

Is that paint too, or some type of pinstipe sticker?

Oh thanks. I was replicating what was there originally. I used pin stripe tape over 10 years ago and it's still hanging in there.

Those pinstripes make for a sharp detail...my '48 looks to have had a similar pinstripe that I'm gonna try to replicate. It sounds like the tape stripe would be just as good as masking off & experimenting with pinstriping...didja happen to put some sort of clear coat over the tape stripe & grille bars to seal them off?

Get a good quality striping tape, and make sure the surface you're attaching it to is clean and grease free. The twin stripes on my 36 Plymouth that I put on over 30 yrs ago looks as solid as the day I put it on. Wish I could say the same for myself. Mike

I did what Mike said. Just made sure it was very clean before applying the stripe. No clear coat.
