Joe Flanagan Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 I've got a 22-year-old pickup truck and whenever I take it on a long trip, my ears are really attuned to the noises it's making during the first fifteen minutes or so. After that, I just kind of ease back and relax. A lot of what's happening there is happening between my ears. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Consider yourself lucky, Joe. I've been told there's nothing happening between my ears. Quote
T120 Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 ... That pretty well sums it up.I carry the same stuff on a trip.Certainly the basic tool kit and spare fluids.I'm fortunate in that time isn't a problem for me as I'm retired,so if the trip takes longer than planned it's still enjoyable. If my wife is with me she pays more attention than I about the car - questioning me if she thinks anything is out of the ordinary, noises and the like .Usually I have the radio or tunes turned on and am enjoying the scenery and the ride. Jim Yergin Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Jim, that's exactly what I'll be thinking of for the first few months of driving my car. I still would like to know what caused that. Joe, My machinist thinks that in all likelihood it was a defect in the piston. Jim Yergin Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Consider yourself lucky, Joe. I've been told there's nothing happening between my ears. Oh, I've been told the same thing. Things are happening in that region, but nothing worth paying attention to. Kind of like Latvia. Or Outer Mongolia. Quote
