brian hood Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 I had a really good experience with Con-Way freight. I just had a truck bed (in pieces) shipped to me from CT to Mobile, Al for less than $200. I was VERY please with the service and price. Do not be reluctant to use this company. Brian Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Thanks for the info. That's good to know. Tom Quote
55 Fargo Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 I see Con Way trucks rolling in and around Winnipeg Canada all the time, wondered about them, sounds likea good freight mover. Me being in the correctional field, when I hear a name like Con way, I think, well you know what.....LOL Quote
desoto1939 Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 This is funny in away. Con-Way has a major office in my building right across from my employee. Can I go over and let them know how happy you were with their services. I would amagine that this office processed the order and shipping. Rich Hartung Quote
JerseyHarold Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 I work for a large appliance and HVAC manufacturer and we use Con-Way as well. We're pleased with them. Quote

Hook'em back up and go home. I'm home every day. Been with them since '86 except for a 4 yr. stint with my own business. We damage things at times too, but, the majority of drivers take pride in thier work. I know I do. Wayne P. Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 We have a Con Way place here in Joplin, MO now. They bought out a local carrier's (C F I) operation. You still occasionally see a truck with C F I on it, but I guess they just haven't repainted them all. Quote
Mustang6147 Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 I do not like Conway, if your happy with them, good for you, gotta stay with what works. I have always used Roadway, now YRCW. They have been very accomodating, and I have picked up ordered parts in the middle of the night at there terminal with out any issue. If you pick them up, you get a discount on shipping. There are alot of car guys there to. Quote
mrspeedyt Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 conway should be a darn good carrier. they were established in 1983 by consolidated freightways as a regional carrier. consolidated freightways, (established in 1929) was a major innovator of freight shipping, gave conway the benefit of much experience to get off the ground running. conway, not being unionized, cut their operating costs which has led to surviving the intense competetion of the freight shipping market. Mustang6147 Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 OT/Conway was started for regional capabilities, the whole INTRA, and INTER state rights thing. When CF was put out, all of conways debt was loaded into CF's bankruptcy. Conway was under different name, CCX,CEX,CSE,CWX, then after CF was out for a period of time, they changed the name again to Conway Frt this is an effort to bring back the coined phrase CF only this time non- Union. I worked at Conway for a few years, many people get hurt, and more frt deaths occur at Conway then any other carrier. I quit because of things I wittnessed. (I dont have an ax to grind) we parted ways, I can go back any time I want. There over head is simmialar to a Unions companies, I predict that they will be organized in the near future. The only reason I post this is because this great nation was built on organized labor. and Conway is not that. The things I saw as far as perposely damaging frt just to get it on the trailer made me sick. Fact is in all honesty frt historically has high damage claims, it is a rough envirement. In close, Conway to me will never be connected to quality, or anything good. But like I said, if it works thats what counts... Quote
