greg g Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 The temp in Saranac Lake and most of the rest of the Adirondacks was -24 this AM. We had +3 but it's up to 19 already. The forge is up to -9 as the sun came out. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 Big storm is coming. We're going to get it. Is it supposed to reach you up there in New York? Quote
greg g Posted December 18, 2009 Author Report Posted December 18, 2009 Going up the coast, according to the guessers we won't be involved, NY Metro and LI, then up to Boston and Cape Cod. Quote
aero3113 Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 They are saying we should get about a foot here on the island. Quote
greg g Posted December 19, 2009 Author Report Posted December 19, 2009 Goodness, that will shut you guys down for a week or more. Up in these parts its a minor inconvenience. Hope your stocked up on eggs, bread and milk. Quote
aero3113 Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 LoL,I wouldn't say a week but yes people think it the end of the world. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Well, we've got about a foot on the ground right now. Still coming down heavily. The entire region is out of commission. I'm getting ready to watch a PBS special on John Dillinger. Saw the movie last night ("Public Enemies") which I thought was dull. Thought I'd get educated on the real thing while the snow is coming down. Quote

Best part of the movie was when he paid a visit to the very office that was out to capture him and nobody there knew he was there. Quote
aero3113 Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Now they are saying over 20 inches is possible Quote

Don, that was a slow movie. The truth is better. Check out the book ,"Dillinger Slept Here" by Paul Maccabee. Plenty of snow here in Iowa. We need a new Dillinger to sell newspapers or maybe a boy in a balloon? Eric Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 My first wife grew up in Chicago in an apartment right across the street from the Biograph Theater where Dillinger was shot coming out of the movie. You can still see the bullet holes in the telephone pole there, and in the building in the alley. Watched them make the movie about him out their living room window back in the late 60's/early 70's. They lived at 2438 N. Lincoln Ave., and the theater's address is 2433 N. Lincoln Ave. http://egov.cityofchicago.org/Landmarks/B/BiographTheater.html Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 So the original Biograph is still there? I've watched infomercials that were better than "Public Enemies." Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 So the original Biograph is still there? I've watched infomercials that were better than "Public Enemies." It would appear it is still there according to that link. Personally, I haven't been near that location since the early 80's. Quote
