My cousin sent me some family papers to copy on my Mother's side of the family. This auto insurance policy from 1947 on Grandpa's 1937 Plymouth coupe I thought I would share. At the same time my Father's parents had a 1937 Plymouth 4dr. Just a little family information that I would pass along that I found interesting.

Interesting. Don't you wish you could still buy automobile insurance for those prices today.:D Sorta like the old hospital bill I found among a box of photos I got from my mother. Was a copy of a hospital emergency room bill from May 30, 1953 when my brother broke his arm in the box. The whole bill for the hospital and doctor was only a little over $25.00.:D Today, the hospital will charge that much for just a kleenex.

Geeze, no uninsured motorist charge, no colision, no medical, no comprhensive, coverage, no state surcharge. Coverage for the owner, not on the car.

Here are today's minimums for NY

A motor vehicle registered in NYS must have liability insurance. Insurance coverage must be a minimum of $25,000/50,000 for injury, $50,000/100,000 for death, and $10,000 for property damage caused by any one accident. New York State is a no-fault state. The liability coverage must remain in effect while the registration is valid, even if the vehicle is not used.

Greg,

We have to remember. Back then there weren't as many lawyers out there, and people were not as sue happy. So..........we didn't need all that extra coverage like we have today. Times were much simpler before the lawyers took over.

Disclaimer: No offense to those on here that are lawyers.
