Ian Crombie UK Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 Hi all I'm seeking Front Upper Control Arm Bar and bushes for my 46 Ply Sp/Dlx Cpe...Found a kit/box on the Internet with Mopar part # 939755 Can anyone tell me if it's the correct part for a 46 Ply I've came across another and more expensive kit - Mopar # 1064685, NIB similar photo and seems to be the same parts I have a 1ezwire Parts Interchange Manual which gives me a different part number - 862669 & 862775 which makes it confusing at this end Cheers Ian(UK) Quote
Jim Yergin Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 (edited) Ian, According to the Plymouth parts book Chet has on his site (http://chetscoins.com/1948p15/DocumentWeb/Parts_Reference/018.pdf) (password is "password") the Front Wheel Upper Control Arm Pivot Bar Bushing Assembly is part #867151 and two are required. A search on www.partsvoice.com using that number shows that Valley Vintage Auto Parts http://www.vvap.com and Collectors Auto Supply http://www.collectorsautosupply.com/ have them. I also searched on partsvoice using your 939755 number. Collectors Auto Supply also showed it as a Front Wheel Upper Control Arm Pivot Bar Bushing Assembly for 41-50 Plymouths. The search also showed that Deception Pass Motor Parts (Len Dawson)http://www.dpmotorparts.com/ has it but his site cross references it to #1243791 which appears to be a more complete kit. So based on that it appears that part #939755 will work. Hope this helps. Jim Yergin Edited November 10, 2009 by Jim Yergin Quote
RobertKB Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 Jim beat me to it but here is a great way to check part numbers.http://www.collectorsautosupply.com/search.htm Quote
Andydodge Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Ian, as far as I know all Plymouth/Dodge upper inner bar and bushes should interchange 1941-1954....tho' that is for a complete bar and bush on each end......the bars all have 4 bolts to hold them to the chassis, it may depend on the different BRAND of kit that you get, ie some have slightly large hex's on the bush where it screws onto the bar so that may account for a different number but all bushes between makes and brands should have the same outer thread that screws into the upper arm. I have also seen at least 2 different sized upper outer camber adjuster nuts, ie, the nut O.D. where it fits into the spindle upper hole can be at least 2 sizes, not sure which is which tho'........lol........andyd Quote
