Bingster Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 I have a '47 Desoto Custom and I need the front inner and outer wheel bearings. Does Napa or other auto parts stores sell the right bearings? As in exact match? Also, what about brake hoses? There is a guy on ebay who custom makes hoses. Anybody use him? Quote
desoto1939 Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 (edited) The 40-48 desoto all used the same front wheel bearing and they are a tapered timikin bearing Inner 14125A-14276 The first # is the cone the seconfd is the cup. These are Timkin Numbers not Mopar factory numbers and were taken from the Hollander cross reference book. Outer 09074-09194 same as the above for cone an cup number They should have these or be able to get for you. They should also beable to get brakes hoses. Do not have nuymbers on these. rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com Edited October 12, 2009 by desoto1939 to Add additioanl infomation Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 I think someone told me bearings have a number stamped on them. If you take that number to a bearings place, or maybe the auto supply, they should be able to use that number. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 Or.........if you can't find the numbers Bob mentioned, do what I do when I don't know a part number. I just take the old one off the car and into the store with me. Plop it on the counter and say, give me one of these (or how ever many needed). Hey, works for me. That way, if you or they don't know the part number, they can match it up with the right part by measuring and comparing the new with the old. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Darned clever of you, Norm, old boy. Quote
oldmopar Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 I have found that if you go to the napa online site and from the parts menu select there parts pro se catalog. You can match many common parts like wheel bearing, seals, cylinders etc by putting in the original mopars # and it will find the new napa parts. http://www.napaonline.com/NOLPPSE/(S(la55s155exvh4m45s4gsxe55))/Welcome.aspx Quote
