paint color

the cab on my 51 still shows some of the blue paint. i am trying to identify it so i can buy new paint. my question is does anyone know what the dark blue paint # is? i usually buy napa paint. thankyou, clifford.

No chart for 1951 but see if this 1948 chart matches what you have.

My Dupont paint book shows Deep Purple Blue # 93-24366 for 1951 and 1952 this is the only blue on pickups I hope this helps. Carl

According to The book by Bunn and Brownell ....Dodge Pickups History and Restoration Guide 1918-1971 there were two shades of blue for 1951. Also shown are the Ditzler codes. Dodge Truck Blue #3 (Deep Blue) # 10629 or Dodge Truck Deep Purple Blue showing the same Ditzler code of # 10629. My local auto paint store couldn't use those numbers so I brought in the glove box door and had them do a color match.

Just went through some research with a friend who works a Dupont paints and he was able to come up with the dark blue paint formula for my '49.It is called Wateway Blue 93-55093.If you are interested in the formula,PM me and I will pass it on.
