michael.warshaw Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 where do you buy a new exhaust? Quote
james curl Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 At your local muffler shop. They can make all of the system from the manifold to the tailpipe. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 I had mine done at the local Midas Muffler shop, where our son worked. It's nice and quiet. Dennis:cool: Quote
Normspeed Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 If you'd rather do your own, I think Kanters sells complete kits. Quote
msawdey44 Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 In the WPC news there is a guy who advertises in the classifieds as "Talermade" exhaust. I got a head pipe/tailpipe for my '50 Dodge, and the materials and workmanship were absolutely first rate, much better than another one I picked up on eBay. Quote
michael.warshaw Posted September 21, 2009 Author Report Posted September 21, 2009 is there any company out there that has a complete kit done already to the oem specs and bends, roberts motor parts has one that is done but its a 4 to 6 week wait? Quote
radioguy7 Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 Better off just going to your local muffler shop. This way all your joints will be welded nice and you wont have a bunch of exhaust clamps hanging all over if you buy a pre made kit. Unless you have a welder that is, and most of us dont. Plus IMO a welded exhaust system is much stronger than a clamped together one. Quote
JohnS48plm Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 There is a place in southern Michigan called Waldron Exhaust. They have a website and will make an exhuast to original specs. I put one on my 48 convertible and it fit perfectly. JohnS Quote
michael.warshaw Posted September 22, 2009 Author Report Posted September 22, 2009 whats was the price and lead time? Quote
JohnS48plm Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I don't know what their lead time is but the exhaust pipe, muffler and tail pipe set is $220 in aluminized steel or $340 for stainless. Their phone number is 800-503-9428. I don't know how this price compares to having it done at a local shop. JohnS Quote
michael.warshaw Posted September 23, 2009 Author Report Posted September 23, 2009 emailed them lets see what happens Quote
alan32433 Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 Michael, Check with Kepich exhaust (google search). When you find their site, look for your model under Chrysler and you will find a system for your Plymouth. A complete aluminized system including muffler for your car is $135 plus shipping. They weld the exhaust flange as original. I got a stainless system for my 48 desoto and everything fit fine. None of the local shops could come close to Kepichs price. In fact, I tried to get just an aluminized exhaust pipe for my car and was quoted $100 locally and they were going to cut my original flange off and re-use it. Kepich sends the tail pipe in two pieces for ease of installation and shipping cost. If you want a single piece tail pipe make sure you specify that when you order. Waldrons is much higher, I priced them before I bought from Kepich. Alan Quote
