Cpt.Fred
my car has a condensor on top of the alternator, and another one behind the gauges, going from the ammeter (alternator connector) to ground (some attachment screw to the dashboard). do you also have these? i don't find them in any of my wiring charts. could it have something to do with the radio, to compensate generator oscillation for example? they'll be shot after all these years, anyway. if i really need them i'll have to get new ones, but there aren't any numbers on them. Plymouthy Adams
the one on the generator is for radio noise supression with the body grounded to the housing of the generator and the wire attached to the "A" terminal...the one on the guage is to protect the points of the voltge regulator built into the gas guage.. Cpt.Fred
ok, thanks! that means i should buy a new one for the gauge, right? do you know what kind or size i need?
Plymouthy Adams
I have no specifications on the unit...I have never even though of taking mine off and putting it on the capacitance meter to read its value...I have not even looked at it close enough to see if there is a color code or part number.. Cpt.Fred
:)well, i did yesterday. just something abou some radio corp that fabricated it. i heard those things can catch fire, that's why i'm so interested in it. all the car's electricity runs through this little ammeter...
