Reg Evans Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 It has dual points but no vacuum advance. I suspect it's from a late 50's Dodge truck poly V-8. I am contemplating using it in my 58 1/2 ton sweptside but am wondering what engine and truck it was really engineered for. Also wondered what advantage dual points has over single points. part # 1566656 auto-lite # 1BB-41038 serial # 3M353187 Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Reg, 1566656 comes up in the July 1955 C series truck parts book pg. 8-16 under code 8-21-1 as fitting 8 cylinder trucks- models G/H/HH. It also has been superceded to a 1664956 to cover the same trucks including "F" series according to my MoPar supercedence books . In my Autolite book it shows IBB4103B as fitting C3 series trucks -many applications C-3-G HH, VT344 ect. I could not find a IBB41038. It should work. Dual points give longer coil saturation for a better spark. Bob Quote
