JJs 1948
I bought some fender filler from Roberts and was dissapointed. This type of filler is very close to the original I see in Reg's truck. This was used in Ford pickups early to mid 50's. I bought this from Carpenters Rubber Products. If I don't have the name correct I'll update my thread. The rubber is very high quality, soft, and forms well to the truck. They sent me enough for two trucks. Anyone want whats left?
KJ's Dodge
I am going to need filler for my truck. So, I will send you a pm for contact info. Let me know, By the way it looks really great, Thanks, KJ Edited June 30, 2009 by KJ's Dodge
Merle Coggins
Can you take a cross section picture of it to compare to the crap that Roberts sells? Merle
JJs 1948
This rubber is twice the size of Roberts and spongy feel to it. Works really nice. I'll try to get a cross section photo posted tomorrow.
BulldogTom
Can you tell us how much you paid for it. I am months away from needing it, but I will be needing some eventually. Thanks.
JJs 1948
$15 plus shipping and enough to do two trucks.

JJs 1948
The part is from Dennis Carpenter parts company. The piece is a cowl to fender rubber part # BAAA-16126. The catalog is at my friends body shop but I am sure this is what he ordered, if not, I'll let you know. Attached are more photos. I threw the crap fender filler away from Roberts so I can't show a side by side comparison but it is substantial and a good product to use. JJs 1948
The cowl to hood cloth you mention came with the truck when I bought it years ago. The owner had purchased many new parts. I think this is what Roberts has now. Try them.
grey beard
JJ, I also need this stuff. Went to the web site of theirs but your part number's no good. Can you tell us what the part is made for - what it fits - something that will allow us to identify it on his web site? AND, thanks for some very good info. Bob_Koch
Part number worked. Go to the 1948-56 truck section: http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?userwatch~dynamicSearchPage~cadefffC Copy and paste the part number: BAAA-16126
JJs 1948
Sorry for the confusion on finding this part. Go to www.dennis-carpenter.com On the home page look on the right side for Ford Truck Parts 1953-56 and click on a symbol to download the catalog. It's 122 pages but only takes a minite on DSL. Click the right arrow page turner at the top of the page to page number 62. This is the Sheet Metal page and the part is called "Back to Front Fender to Cowl" 1953-56. Part # BAAA-16126. The friend that is helping me on my truck has restored a few Ford trucks and found this part for my 48 Dodge. On the Ford it ran from the cowl along the top of the fender, like the Dodge, and then down the fender side edge to the bottom of the fender so thats why each piece is about 2 feet long. Hope this helps.
grey beard
JJ, Got it. Thanks for the info. As often as questions about this part are asked, this info should be made a sticky, IMHO.
Charles Furman
I just order some of this fender filler. Any special advice for installation?
JJs 1948
I am not an expert but this is what worked for me. I glued the filler on the fender and used masking tape to hold it in place overnite while it cured. Just a few pieces where needed. Installed the fender the next day. Off the subject but how did the fresh air duct hose seem to you?
Charles Furman
The Fresh Air Vent Hose worked great. I really appreciate your help. My wife really loves having the ability to get fresh air without having to open the hood scope vent. I will email you some pictures when I get some. I haven't made a metal strap yet, so I used some of the webstrap that I used for the hood restraints to make some slings to hold the hose against the inner fender. It actually came out pretty good, so I am not in too big a hurry to make the metal strap. Thanks again, Charles

grey beard
Welllllllllllll, Before you'all go out to Dennis Carpenter and order BAAA 16126 as this thread suggests, please know that I have that very item here in my hot little hands, and it is RUBBER FENDER WELTING, not fender filler at all. Seems to me like someone made a big mistake here posting this info. I have no doubt that the Ford fender filler is neat stuff,, and that it will work well for our Pilothouse trucks, but this is definitely NOT the correct part number. On the strength of this thread I ordered the above part number without benefit of a catalog - $15 bucks for the part and $10 minimum shipping charge, and here I have a $25 mistake that is useless. Before any of you order this stuff, better check with someone who has a catalog and can steer you to the correct part. JMHO
Guest Kuster13
Mine showed up yesterday. Same part number, same mistake. I have completely gone through the online catalog for 48 to 56 trucks and I did not see anything that looked like what JJ acquired. 15 or so online catalogs is alot to go through. JJs 1948
Sorry guys, I will get on this right away with the right catalog number. I worked on my truck at a friends body shop and he ordered the part for the truck. I will personally look at his catalogs and get the right part number. Again, I fell very bad about not getting this right. I do have it on my truck and the body shop ordered it about two months ago. JJs 1948
I went to the body shop and have the correct number for the Fender Filler. My mistake was thinking the filler was from 53 to 56 Ford trucks, not so, this part is used in the 48 -52 Fords. Part number 7C-16068, cowl to fender seal. Go to www.dennis-carpenter.com and look it up. I am very sorry and will pay for anyones expenses due to my mistake with the catalog number. They should take the wrong part back and send the correct one to you andf I'll pay the shipping. Please let me do this. The filler is worth getting, especially when its the right one. Kick me for sure on this one!!
grey beard
Hey Jeff, Finally got the part number you last listed, and installed mine today. What a nice looking fit! I can't tell you how many people on this forum over the past years have asked about where to find this stuff. Like you and others, I had tried to use the stuff Roberts sells, but it is skimpy and anemic, and just didn't look right. This stuff is very good looking and is easy to install with the long tail and the retainer barb on the bottom of the rib. Thanks for sharing this information. We all got it right now. Your information needs to go in the tech achives, and mebby become a sticky. Our fearless web meister will know. Again, thanks
