Lou Earle Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Got a hold of nice 59 plym 4 dr 6cyl automatic. Naturally needs work. I was removing the engine and automatic trans and have discovered a shielded cable going into the trans and cannot find how how to get it loose. It comes from the push buttons into the trans and it is the shifter cable from the buttons. I am stuck andyone know how to get that cable loose? Lou Quote
dezeldoc Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 On the cable at the trans their is a disc with a bolt holding it,Take the bolt on the disc out, pull the disc out a little, reach in with a 4" long small screwdriver and their is a spring clip in there, feel with the screwdriver till you find the clip, lift it up and pull the cable out. sounds hard but is pretty simple. you want to buy a 59 2dr hardtop fury, 440, 727, tubbed, 9" rear, c body front clip?? dezeldoc Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 Pull the pushbutton and disconect it that way. Quote
dezeldoc Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 Ok i checked this out, where the cable goes into the trans, where the adj disc would normaly be, their is a yoke that goes down towards the bottom at a 40* angle or so. on the side towards the bottom of the trans their is a bolt on the yoke to adj it, loosen it and pull the yoke off, pull the cable out and use the screwdriver to unlatch the spring clip inside, same as the disc kind.
