1937 Dodge Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 (edited) I need to completely replace the window channel and weather strip on my '37 1/2 ton Dodge Pickup. I'm sure the materials used in the Pilot-house era trucks would be quite similar. Anyone able to suggest a "Good" supplier of these products. I have checked out Andy, Roberts, Antique Dodge Parts, Steele etc. but would rather hear from members who have already installed replacement parts and are satisfied with the quality and fit. Over the years various "replacement" parts had been installed so I have now idea on what the original parts look like or what to order. It appears that the bottom of the door used a single rubber strip along the width of the door that was about 2 1/2" wide. It had pre-drilled holes for the screws that went into the bottom of the door. Also, any suggestions on good cowl lacing? Steele looks good but is quite $$$. Thanks Edited June 22, 2009 by 1937 Dodge Quote
grey beard Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 I used (gulp) Roberts, and the stuff fit and worked. I got the window channel, the fuzzy belt moldings and the door weatherstripping. All of this stuff is adequate in quality and all of it comes in a length nearly large enough for two trucks. Don't know why. Having said all this, the man's bedside manner purely lacks gravity. He is abrasive, impatient and sorta' crude. If you do business with him and are ready for this treatment, I suppose you will find no surprises. I guess one would be safe in saying that he is a little short on the milk of human kindness, as it were. Go figure . . . and this guy does business only mail order and web - no retail outlet store you can visit. One would think this alone would make him be a little more friendly, just for the sake of doing business. NOT! Quote
greg g Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 you sure you aren;t talkin about Burnedbomb??? I purchased several orders of stuff from Roberts and found them decent to deal with. Quote
MBF Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 There was a fellow at Macungie this past weekend-JW Auto. 610-927-4622. He had weather stripping and some other restoration supplies for sale-he may also have the channel. There was another vendor there right across from him that had various sizes in tubes, but I can't remember his name. Retoration Supply may also have as would a glass shop? Mike Quote
