What do you guys think is the most rare Chrysler from 46 to about 48 or so?

Convertable, coupe, 3 window, limo? I am just wondering because I am trying to learn some more about these Mopars and want to know which are the rares and which ones are the most common.

Thanks!

This Zippo car is a clone.

The original was "misplaced" in the '50's after the original ad campain was over and the car was retired.

This one was built in the '90's from a low mileage original car. (for Zippo)

And I believe the new one has the standard small block chevy in it. BLAH

There was a brown 51 or 52 vert here a while back.....in a warehouse full of older cars purchased at the big auctions......by a guy with lots of play money. The one here was super nice. However, it was evidently sold to some individual from somewhere. He sold off all the assorted cars, and the last time I was there---the warehouse was full of nothing but Corvettes. So, there is at least one more out there somewhere.

Oh yeah, there might be another 51-52 vert in another garage at the east edge of town....an incomplete street rod project. Not in the best of shape. Saw it a while back.....think it was one of those years.

Ed, your correct, it has a 350 in it now but when Joe built it he put the original flathead back in it. You can thank Zippo for putting the 350 in it later. Another tidbit abt the car is it was built from a 47 "New Yorker" Saratoga, not as advertised by Zippo as a "Chrysler Saratoga." It was actually in the 70's when they began to look for the car according to web info given. The owner put the car in for repairs and modifications in the 50's and left it there too long, that's why it came up missing. As far as it being a "clone" I dont know if you could consider it that way or not since it was contracted for Zippo and constructed only by looking at pictures that they supplied of the original. This is what it looked like before it was turned into the 2nd Zippo car. You wont find a picture of this online.

I don't know my Dodges that well but this one was posted a while back by a forum member, MsMopar. Pretty car. Would this be a 53?

Thank you shel bizzy for the clarification. 5500 still seems like a very low production run. I bought the car a few months ago, but have not had much time to finish her off. It was a frame off restoration that was not competed by the original owner. If all goes weill I hope to have her finished with by July.

Normspeed, the black vert you posted looks like a 54 or 55. beautiful car, but not exactly what I have.

The following is the only photo I can find of a 1951 dodge coronet (actually this is a 1952 but they look the same).

cheers & thank you for all the support!

Alex

How about the 46 Chrysler 3 window Windsor that I am going to buy? In my thread (New Guy) a guy in there said something about only 700 made and the owner of this car said the guy he bought it from said that it's really a Saratoga 3 window but he put Windsor trim on the hood and that only 70 or 700 were made (the current owner said he cant remember if the guy said 70 or 700 but I am guessing 700).

I tried looking for info on these cars but only found a few small things about the 3 window. From my understanding there is no such thing as a 3 window Saratoga with a Flathead 6 since they had 8's....

i have a 1954 chrysler windsor deluxe convertible that had a production run of 500. only seen one for sale in the last 5 years in louisiana. mine is original, a good driver. it has power steering and power brakes which probably makes it a little rarer for a windsor. i don't think rarity makes it better.i bought this car because it is the same as what i had when i was 17. it was hard to find and i did pay too much, but i won't part with it for any price. good luck with the dodge. dennis

Boy did I screw that one up! Car was a Saratoga business coupe originally and since they coudnt find one Joe built the last Zippo car out of a New Yorker. (Grey car in the picture) My mistake, sorry for the confusion for those that didnt know better, like me :)

The number on the door of this 46 3W Windsor says 70552678. The VIN on the tag on the firewall is basically gone, you can't read it since it wasn't stamped but the title has the VIN, I will have to get it off of the title. I forgot to write it down but will call the guy right now to get it. It has 116,550 miles on the odometer. Not sure how many miles these old engines can last for but that is a lot IMO. I will post some new pictures of the car that I took today. He said he would take 2500 bucks for it, what do you guys think? All it's missing to be complete is the passenger side rear fender trim, one yellow fog lamp, two buttons off the radio and one door knob. That's all that's really missing to make it complete and have a project where I can tear it down, clean it and fix it and put it all on. Does 2500 bucks sound like a good deal for this car if it ran fine before and only two rust spots about the size of two quarters on the rocker panel? The floors still are black paint and not rusted at all on this thing too!

Ok I just called the guy about the VIN and he is going to get it tomarrow when he is at the building so I will have that info at about 1:00 PM tomarrow and will post it here. The title says State Of Nevada on it so I guess that is where he got it at.

Well, the price sounds about par for the course these days. It would seem that it does not need certain time consuming work such as new floors....that can be worth a lot. Just my two cents.
