Good job Shane. I had one like that too, in a replacement door. But the one in my original door was good, so I swapped in the good one. I wondered if there was a way to build up those worn pieces but I didn't need to pursue it.

Atta Boy.

Hi Shane,

Enjoyed your entire blog. You have done some pretty creative thinking here. Now that my own stock B1B is on the road I can't help but wonder what a later - and longer ratio - rear axle would feel like. To have that PLUS a T-5 transmission must be awsome. Does your stock motor have the torque to keep things moving in overdrive? My own stock drive train with a new rebuilt engine has none too much power over our PA hills in high gear. I'd be out of overdrive in a blink.

Thanks for sharing. I respect your creativity.

Good Luck finsihing your project. It's nice that your family can be involved and help. My grandchildren have often helped me when I was in a pinch. Small hands can be a tremendous asset sometimes.

Regards,

As for the overdrive I need to get my speedo calibrated and tighten up my steering box before I test my overdrive too much. The steering is a bit loose for my comfort. But power wise I think I will be fine. (Realize that here in Idaho I live in a relatively flat valley so I have not tested it too much yet.)

Hey Woodscavenger,

You've got a great blog going over there! I've had it in my favorites for awhile now. You still haven't said if you got the truck tagged yet. It is well past Feb.....!:D

Truck is tagged. Been driving for 2 months.Pics are pending. I also have a write up to do on rehabbing floor boards.

Right now the truck is kicking my butt. I have a bad brake light switch, need to tighten the steering, and track down an oil leak.
