Young Ed Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 The best books to have are the parts and shop manuals. Available on ebay and other places. Yes drop spindles are available and disk brake conversions from a few sources. Charlie from this site has a kit. I haven't used one myself but plan to when I build my next pickup. Quote
vitamindart Posted January 17, 2007 Author Report Posted January 17, 2007 ok how do i get in touch with him is it worth messing with this suspension or are you better off with a mustang 2 or other style kit or front stub??? i would really like to keep it mopar but i'm not completely against putting a kit on also how do i tell what trans i have??? rear axle ??? if i swap some of this stuff out is it worth anything??? james curl Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 The Complete Fat Man mustang front clip is about $2500.00 uninstalled. The Fat Man dropped spindle up rights are about $350.00 plus Fat Mans or Charlies disc brake kit with new rotors and calipers will run about $500.00 then you will want to relocate the front shocks and that kit runs about $150.00. If you have to rebuild the control arms then that kit runs $395.00 from Plydo, they also sell an adapter for a GM rack and pinion for $199.00 then you have to buy the rack and pinion. Rebuilt rack and pinion with no exchange will run at least another $200.00. If you can afford it the Fat Man clip would give you the best ride and modern suspension with rack and pinion steering for about $600.00 more. If you cannot do all of the work yourself then you have to add labor to both cost. Quote
D25_Steve Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 How much does the dropped spindles drop the front by? Quote
Allan Faust Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 If I remember correctly, its a 2" drop Steve.... Allan Quote
james curl Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 PLYDO sells dropper up rights for Plymouths and the ad states you get a full 3" of drop. Lowers your car a full 3 inches. I have catalog # 13 and they cost $320.00 at that time. PLYDO does not have a web site, you can try to contact them at 304-475-3245 or send $5.00 for a catalog to PLYDO Rt.1,Box277-B Delbarton WV 25670 Quote
martybose Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 I believe that PlyDo is reselling the Fatman dropped spindle. 3" sounds about right to me; if you click on my name in this reply and look at my car you'll see what a 47 Plymouth with stock springs all around and the Fatman dropped spindles looks like with 15" 60 series tires on it.
