scottyv47 Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 well i got my starter back from being rebuilt, and started getting my flattie ready for a crankin, bought a carter slantsix 1 barrel, reman from advancedauto, $122 not bad, a new coil, mine was missing, sorted out some of the buchured half ass 12volt conversion that someone started, then i pulled the dipstick for the first time, so now the carb and coil are going back, and the full to the top of the oil pan with water flattie is coming out, took off the nose, and disconected all bolts, wires, linkage, ect, then it started raining, called ply-do again, they say their still on scedule, and will have the new trans mounts done in about a week and a half, so it looks like i'm going to miss the only car show in my area, unless there is a miracle, and ply-do gets the mounts done sooner Quote
dezeldoc Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 Call speedway and get one of their universal trans crossmember and cut to length. about 80 bucks and it is bolt on. they also have motor mounts that will work, about 40 bucks. this stuff is way easy to make. Quote
makkelsay Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 make it yourself! trans mount is a paint though if you use the stock cushion Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 what small block you got in mind? Quote
scottyv47 Posted April 20, 2009 Author Report Posted April 20, 2009 oh i'm thinking crate 360, theres a 67 valiant for sale by me, 66,000 original, 273, 904, i'm thinking about just grabbing it, and swapping the whole deal in, i think the rear is alittle narrow, and its a 7 1/4, which sucks, but i'm not out to win any races, just cruise Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 gee..the 7 1/4 is no race rear gear but as for the daily ride..this was stock in the last of the rear wheel drive sedan through 89 and actually the Chrysler 5th Ave had this gear with 2.32 rear ratio and the larger brakes..the brakes are a plus...even in the Powerpack edition, the 273 4bbl was rated just 5 hp over the stocker 318 2 bbl..only the S version had extreme HP and was close to squared... Rodney Bullock Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Scotty I like your thinking:) I saw two 4dr street rods this week end and they were great. This one guy had his mother and wife riding a 1934 Dodge that his father built. I talked to them for an hour they were so interesting. I am on course to building the 1939 Chrysler and it's a 4dr as well. Quote
