West Bound And Down...This Time It's Austin, Texas Bound

Well guys, since my trip to the Viva Las Vegas show about 4 years ago I have logged on many more miles on the ol' Plymouth but I'm about to call on it again. I'm leaving Tuesday afternoon for Austin, Texas for the Lone Star Roundup. This is one of the premier shows in the country for the style of cars that I'm into.

I am driving the Plymouth there. I have gone over the entire car once again and have loaded up everything in the trunk I could need for a long road trip. One thing I'm not thrilled about is my tires. I ran through my bias plies after about 28,000 miles and did not replace them for the trip. Instead I decided to rob Heather's DeSoto for her Diamondback radials. I am anti-radials on my cars for only 1 reason...looks. I hate the look of a radial. Hate the look! But DAMN, they ride nice!!! They ride fantastic on my car that it feels like a completely different car. I'm look forward to the long ride on these tires.

I will take plenty of pics of our trip.

Wish me luck!!

I will be there as a spectator, if I drive my 48 Plymouth I will not put it in the show. There a bunch of cars in the parking lots outside of the show. Mine is kind of a ratty slightly modified daily driver, not something to show. The interior is getting long of tooth, worn out.

Have a good trip to Texas, Ron.

I think you'll enjoy the ride of those radials.

At least now we can get the wide white with radial tires, so the 50s

look can be maintained.

Thanks for the well wishes guys.

I've been working all day just cleaning up. I have to rebuild the starter tomorrow. It failed on me last night and I had to give it a few love taps to get it going again. So instead of risking it I am taking it to a friend and he'll give it the once over.

I also found that my rubber oil pressure line was cracked and leaking. Gotta fix that one also.

Keep you posted.

If you have a hydraulic hose sop in your area, they can make up a new hose for you. got one a couple years ago for under 10 bucks. Take the old one with you.

I got the starter rebuilt today and damn it works good. I also got the rubber oil pressure line made up. So I believe I am ready for the trip.

Can't wait! 22 hours and counting

Oh...BTW Glen I may take you up on your offer next year. Watch out!
