Going to put some new bias ply tires on the back duals of my 1 ton. There are 6:50x 16's on there now-will those 6 hole 16" Budds allow 7:50's w/o the sidewalls touching? A friend of mine has a late 60's Dodge firetruck with 7:00's on the back and you can't get your hand between the inner sidewalls. My reason to go 7:50's is the larger tire diameter, and I already have 2 that will be good for the two inner tires. Mike

There were several wheel offsets made, it will depend on the offset you have. The wheels with the larger offset usually are wider rim also. The earlier wheels tend to be narrower and less of an offset. A wider tire will fit on the narrower rim but they fit the wider rim better.

I tried them -7.50's and they rubbed so I ended up getting later/wider ford 6 stud-6 handhole rims that look as the originals to get the wider tires to fit w/o touching each other. They still only have 3/4" clearance. Rim width I think was 6.50" or 7.00".

I wonder if spacers are available or could be made to seperate the two wheels enough to clear each other.

Shown are some wide base rims for the 1 ton Dodge dually's.

Thanks-the rims I have are the dual offset variety-actually have a few of 'em. I was just wondering how wide a tire I could go to. I may see if I can find a set of the Ford rims-drop center would be even better. These can't be spaced-the rims are coined, and the lug bolts aren't long enough with the single nut design. Mike

Later Dodge /studebaker /International/Ford 6 stud all will worK as long as you get away from the 4-1/2-5" OE rims when wanting to install 7.50's.
