ChrisCoccia Posted April 6, 2009 Report Share Posted April 6, 2009 OK, I'm stumped. I put my guages back in and the oil pressure guage leaked out of the back. I tried tightening it all the way down, then teflon tape, no luck. So I tried using the old line, then that plus teflon tape, no dice. Then I swapped guage faces onto my old guage, with the old line tightened all the way and I still get a drop of oil on my toe when I drive it. I am going to try teflon on that, but if anybody has any other suggestions I'm all ears. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The line has a compression ferrell that is supposed to seat and seal into the fitting at the back of the gauge. Either you have a bad line, or the gauge fitting may be damaged or cracked. I don't know if a modern compression fitting would match up or not. I'm not even sure without measuring it what size it would be. grey beard Posted April 11, 2009 Report Share Posted April 11, 2009 Chris, If you find that your gauge, itself, is leaking, let me know. I have a spare I can send to you. If it is the fitting at the gauge, go to any parts store and ask for a length of 1/4-inch brake line with an ISO or bubble-type flare on one end. My gauge line got cracked and I used one of these with the old fitting nut and compressed it into the gauge - hasn't leaked a drop since. You'll have to cut the other end to fit the fitting on your line up near the horn on the outside of your firewall. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need my spare gauge.
