leaky oil pressure guage

Recommended Posts

OK, I'm stumped. I put my guages back in and the oil pressure guage leaked out of the back. I tried tightening it all the way down, then teflon tape, no luck. So I tried using the old line, then that plus teflon tape, no dice. Then I swapped guage faces onto my old guage, with the old line tightened all the way and I still get a drop of oil on my toe when I drive it. I am going to try teflon on that, but if anybody has any other suggestions I'm all ears.

Chris,

If you find that your gauge, itself, is leaking, let me know. I have a spare I can send to you. If it is the fitting at the gauge, go to any parts store and ask for a length of 1/4-inch brake line with an ISO or bubble-type flare on one end. My gauge line got cracked and I used one of these with the old fitting nut and compressed it into the gauge - hasn't leaked a drop since. You'll have to cut the other end to fit the fitting on your line up near the horn on the outside of your firewall.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need my spare gauge.
