55 Fargo Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Hi all, sorry about asking this ? on the open forum. A couple of years ago, I accidentally dropped and broke off about 8 inches off the long front whisker trim on my 47 Club Coupe. This specimen was in real decent shape, so I flet like clubbing myself over it. I have 2 or 3 right side long trims, but of course they are not interchangeable. I am wondering if anyone has a left front long whisker trim they might be willing to trade for a decent right long trim, or any other trim, I have a few of the shorter trim pieces too. I am also in dire need of another park light lense too? I just though I would throw this out to our members, and see if anyone might be interested.I realize this is mostly Plymouth and Dodge owners on here, but maybe someone knows where I can find a trim piece that I am looking for....Fred Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Here's a pic of the "whiskers" on a Chrysler. Top left is the one needed......is that correct? Does it go clear to the center of the grille? Or how is it made? Don't know of a handy one at the moment, but you can never tell. Quote
Young Ed Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Bob I think there is a seam just below the headlight. Its hard to see though I might be imagining it Quote
55 Fargo Posted March 18, 2009 Author Report Posted March 18, 2009 Hi Bob, top left is what I need , it only goes to the side of the grill, not all the way to center. Thanx Fred, if you ever find on or any other trim parts would be interested.... Quote
55 Fargo Posted March 24, 2009 Author Report Posted March 24, 2009 Update, last Saturday I brought this broken trim to someone I know who owns a millwright/welding/machining business. They are going to try and fab a backing to braze/weld this trim piece back together, the backer, will give it strength and give his welder some thing to make them as one. If successful, this piece can be replated at a future date, and will be used as is, there will still be a line at the crack, but when being replated, that can be solder filled. They are also going to install all new studs for mounting, it's nice to know people with the skills and shop. Will not get it back till Saturday, sure hope it turns out well, he would not guaratee anything of course....Fred Quote
