chopt50wgn Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Looking for window rubber, bug-fuzz(window sweep), and door rubber for 50 plymouth wagon. I know of Roberts but are there any other places I can check? thanks in advance Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 the front door is standard rubber products you can get from Restoration Specialities and ARE NOT direct replacements nor are the clips available for direct snap in as this was molded in originally the piece between the door and cowl also is not avialable.....as for the rear rubber...even the ridid stationary strip is not available for the sliding glass, the flexible rubber for the glass is also not a direct available item at this time..I ad some made but the guy lost the mold and has not listed it as available in his catalog...so to sum it all up..you use what you think will work, modify a bit here and get-er-done Quote
Reg Evans Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 I think someone is or was making the sliding window channel for the Town Wagons......or ,I had a dream. They are very similar to the Suburbans. You might check with the guys on this forum. http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/tw-list/ Quote
blueskies Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 As Tim said ,the molded rubber piece that goes at the leading edge of the front doors is not available. You will have to ad-lib to make it work. I used a different rubber profile on my '50, and it worked pretty well. You can check it out by clicking here... Pete Quote
chopt50wgn Posted February 19, 2009 Author Report Posted February 19, 2009 I guess I should have added that my wagon has a chopped top, so I don't need the sliding glass rubber. The top is chopped and angled forward so all my side glass will be cut to fit........but thanks everyone so far for the "where to look" and "how to's" Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 then with the chopped top and the elimination of the sliding glass and going stationary you still have the welding of a filler to dress out the panel and use of the original style (form) of the rubber will still be a necessity..when looking at the catalog of Steele and Resotration Specialties..you will see a rubber you will think may work..I advise you not to spend your money there as the lip is not "lippy" enough to cover the opening when curved...maybe...just maybe a note to Olddaddy of this forum may get you the rubber you need..he was having a guy make all his rubber special as he supplied the example..odds are the man has now got a reproduction rubber for this application..I just don't have that info at hand..the guy who did mine was busy with a large commercial contract and lost/misplaced the die he made for mine and therefore cannot extrude any more...his big loss as many people are looking for this rubber...
