Just a little hello from South Texas. I have been browsing the site for a couple of weeks & figured it time to properly introduce myself.

I purchased a 1954 Dodge Coronet (D51-2) back before Thanksgiving from an old guy in Brownsville, TX. (He only had one eye & insisted on taking my wife and I on a test drive - kinda spooky.)

I had just sold a Honda VFR and had some extra cash when I saw it on eBay. Well, much to the shock of my wife, I won it for $1500.

It is in pretty good shape, runs well, but needs a few things. I replaced the front brake cylinders and now it stops well enough, considering the car is almost 20 years older than I am. It has a bit of rust in the trunk below the spare, but other than that no major cancer.

I am learning a lot, and have spent quite a bit of time looking at the shop manual. It has also given my old man & I something to work on together, just like when I was a kid. I did finally get it inspected & Texas plates for it.

I am sure that I will ask some redundant questions, but I will try to get the answer from the manual or previous posts first.

Here is a link to the auction for the car, so you can see a few pictures of it. The interior is good, with the exception of the carpet which I have ordered.

Cheers from Corpus Christi, TX.

Really nice car Al..... sold a nice bike to get it... my father-in-law had one of only 2 sold in Quebec.... he liked to do some high-speed riding on it.... until the insurance premiums were too much for him... as soon as he put it up for sale, it was gone....

Pull up a chair and enjoy yourself.....

I promised my wife that I would narrow down the motorcycle collection. I had five this time last year. Nothing overly special, just at the right place at the right time.

I sold the VFR because I purchased an Aprilia Falco and loved the V-twin power.

Picture of a Falco similar to mine

I also sold off 3 Yamaha FZR's. One 1000 and two 600's. I still have a 1992 Yamaha Seca II (600cc), that I claim is the wifes. She doesn't ever ride it & it will be the next to go.

The hopes are to get a old Harley to tinker with. I haven't found "the right" deal on one yet. It is easier to find old Mopars around here.

Nice Dodge, AJ. Seems to me you got a real good buy there. That interior and body look excellent. That saves a bunch of money by not having to re-do all that stuff. And the flathead 6 is just like all the others discussed here....fits right in. Welcome. (i borrowed one of the pictures from the ad)

I'm not married, but I know what you mean. Here was garage cleaning day a couple of years ago. The fleet has since changed a bit, '84 Wing is sold, the '83 Nihgthawk rolling frame is up in the shed and have an engine for it stored at work, have a different '83 Nighthawk to fill it's space in the garage, and have added a '75 Honda XL250 to tinker with.

Several years back I had a chance to get a '50's or '60's Zundapp, but turned it down at the time. Later when I had the space to work in it, it was no longer available. Bummer :(

Yea, I'm a motorcycle nut too.

Here's my favorite pic of my main ride.

Welcome aboard. Watch out for red lights and sirens 'cause you stole that baby. Love the colour and the paint and the interior look great. The old mopars were and are really great cars.
