makkelsay Posted January 20, 2009 Author Report Posted January 20, 2009 Thanks windsor Did you have any trouble with the motor mounts and trans crossmember? I'm trying to gauge how much to budget(when I get a job) for metal and time Quote
Normspeed Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Iwe have no such enforcement here as been noticed by a lot of shady deals of late...Tim I only know of one shady deal, the radio that Robin purchased and never received. Am I missing out? Are there more? As far as useless banter, if that upsets someone, they may may be on the wrong forum. Seems like it's part of the personality of this one. Name calling isn't. Quote
makkelsay Posted January 20, 2009 Author Report Posted January 20, 2009 is ply-do still around? Quote

Normspeed Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 That's too bad. I hope the injured parties have communicated with the other side to be sure everyone is on the same page. Last deal I made was for some 11" Dodge rear brakes for my P24. I was very pleased with the price and the parts. The P24 never stopped so good. Quote
makkelsay Posted January 20, 2009 Author Report Posted January 20, 2009 so no one has any photos readily available? called ply-do and their still in biz i got a price on the swap mounts and trans cross member....totals to be $335 + shipping might be out of my range and making my own mounts seems like the cheaper but more of a pain way to go Quote
dezeldoc Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Making the motor and tranny mounts is easy, you can use just about all the stock stuff you just need a couple pieces of steel plate and 2x2 square stock. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 these cars are not supported that much by aftermarket industry..and the one or two out there asks premo for their parts...it is not so bad a job to make your own..few basic metal working tools and a welder and you should be able to get them doen quick and easy..as for photos..I would venture to say that any and all who have done this on tis forum have about done it their own way and would be hard to really give you a distict blue print items or design...you flying by the seat of your pants here and prior experience will be hard to beat..see if a friend has done this type of fabrication and draw off thier expertise.. makkelsay Posted January 21, 2009 Author Report Posted January 21, 2009 Its looking like tomorrrow that the flathead will be coming out if everything goes through with me borrowing an engine hoist So any advice on hoisting it and the trans out would be awesome I'm used to pulling v8s from the intake and using a plate Can I just utilize some head bolts and a chain? Quote
wilmot andy Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 When I removed mine, I pulled the trans out first, then pulled the engine and bell, don't quite remember why. You can use the head bolts, good luck on getting some loose. Somewhere on the internet there was photocopies from the Tex Smith book on the small block swap. For engine mounts, I made some with 1 1/2" DOM tubing and rubber bushings, from a HAMB article, can be used for tranny mounts. Do a search on here on engine mounts and you should find the link. Quote
makkelsay Posted January 21, 2009 Author Report Posted January 21, 2009 Well my idea for the trans cross memeber is to hack the original one from the donor van and see if I can weld it in to work I got all the headbolts out with no prob...used an impact wrench haha I was pretty shocked when I saw how many of them there were Quote
makkelsay Posted January 21, 2009 Author Report Posted January 21, 2009 so me and a buddy were talking about mounts and well were young but like old skool tricks and got to thinking about a cool mount idea but add poly bushings of course Quote

I also describe a system that I have made and hope to install on my car using all MoPar parts. Check it out. Quote
