Hi all, I discovered my coil is leaking oil out of the plug in area for the high resistance wire.

This was a new coil I got from work, it had sat on the parts shelf in the vehicle maintenance shop for about 20 + years or more, who knows , but a long time.

What would cause this, will it fail soon?

It's probably leaking simply from old age. But...........if it is leaking' date=' it's time to replace it. Probably won't last much longer.[/quote']

Thanx Norm, no "Depends", in this case, just replace the old timer:D

I bought a new coil. When I installed it, the bracket I purchased to mount it pinched in the sides, grounded it out and ruined it. DO NOT INDENT THE SIDES OF A COIL. They replaced it at their cost, which they did not really have to do. Just a word of experience.
