aero3113 Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 Sorry thought I started a new thread Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 Don't know of any floor shifters that are made for old Mopar's today. However, you might look around for an old Hurst setup. They use to make them for a lot of different cars in the 50's/60's. Outside of that, I've seen articles in street rod/custom magazines where people made their own. Shouldn't be that hard to do if you find or can fabricate the necessary adapters to your transmission. Then it's just a matter of finding a floor shifter to fit the adapter. So.......maybe find the shifter handle/shaft first, then fabricate the adapters. Quote
greg g Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 Mr. Gasket used to make a floor shifter for our cars, they are once and a while available on ebay. The shift pattern is different than the fegular other threespeeds in that is uses a selector type mechanism. Some one on the forum has modified a shifter to work with our patterns. Don;t remember who. Most wheels with a 5 X 4 1/2 bolt pattern. Fords, AMC, and Jeep will work, however you need to watch the with and the backspace measurment. It can't exceed 4 inches or you will rub on springs and tie rod/ steering knuckles. also rimes wider that 7 inches are too wide. Espo springs, fatman dropped spindles, lowering blocks in the rear. JerseyHarold Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 IIRC, 198.5" long, 73" wide. Quote
Allan Faust Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 I've got a floor shifter that I purchased from Tony Cipponeri.... I can't remember the name of it off hand, maybe he can remember... Its made for my flatty... only can't be used if an overdrive is being used.... Allan Quote
makkelsay Posted January 14, 2009 Author Report Posted January 14, 2009 i dont have an overdrive and i might be changing my transmission due to ease of finding a new shifter Quote
makkelsay Posted January 15, 2009 Author Report Posted January 15, 2009 anybody know what transmission my 52 4dr cambridge has im almost positive it does not have OD Quote
JerseyHarold Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 '52's with OD have the word 'Overdrive' on the trunk lid and a lockout handle under the dashboard, as well as an extra relay and wiring under the hood. Quote
makkelsay Posted January 15, 2009 Author Report Posted January 15, 2009 whats the lockout handle look like im almost positive mine doesnt have it but im trying to make sure Quote
Normspeed Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 The OD trans has a couple of "cans" on the outside, the solenoid and governor. Here's a 53 Borg Warner R-10. The earlier ODs may have had only one, not two cans. Quote

Xea737373 Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 This was provided by a guy over at the Forward Look network. While this mount is home fabricated, the JC Whitney unit uses the same mounting points. here is a link to my project pictures http://s366.photobucket.com/albums/oo109/xxeaa/ Quote
