47heaven Posted January 4, 2009 Author Report Posted January 4, 2009 I think I would do just the center groove red. More of a thin red line look. Yeah, as I was driving today I was thinking the same thing. Maybe just a thinner stripe in the middle groove would be sufficient. I thing the red stripe would look good because I have a solid gray dash. As others have said it wouldn't look good with a wood-grained or brown color one. I'm still deciding, buy definitely feel that the strips are too wide, and those were the thinest I could find. Quote
RobertKB Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 I think the stripe width is OK but delete the top and bottom ones and just leave the middle. I don't think you will find the red stripe too wide then. Quote
David Maxwell Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 ...and the deluxe heater with red accents, I think it works very well. I'm also impressed by your dash knobs. You don't see too many in that great of shape. Did you buy a reproduction set? Quote
moparalltheway Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Take it off the heater. Just the dash adds a perfect touch. Heater box makes it to busy. Quote
David Maxwell Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 ...that is the original paint design on the heater. I like it, but agree with others that the red on the dash might look a little better if it were thinner. Cool as is though. Take it off the heater. Just the dash adds a perfect touch. Heater box makes it to busy. Quote
aero3113 Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 I think it looks great, and if you do the vertical stripes up top it will look good also. You can even do the center cap on your steering wheel and outer horn ring.It makes the car stand out from the others.I have used red paint on some of my trim, looking at yours makes me want to do more. The ones under the speaker are original. Quote

In the middle of winter? No thanks...it's the best damn heater I've ever had. It keeps me toasty warm when driving it in the cold. Like David said...that is the original color of the trim paint. The only thing is that I repainted the heater box with gray hammered finish instead of the brown. Quote

Thanks. I'm going to have to play around with it a bit to see what sits right. That's why I like reading everyone's opinions. It helps guide me. Quote
Oldguy48 Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 A bit too much red for my taste...maybe one stripe would be just right. Nice touch, though. Must have been a chore to get those red stripes placed just right:) Quote
moparalltheway Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 O.K. Sorry about the heater I didn't know. This stuffs new to me. I do like the red strips though. Add no more. That is just the right touch. Quote
moparjack44 Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 I like it. Kinda weird, 'cause I just finished adding some red pin stripes on dash of the DeSoto. I painted, and was easy. I used model car paint, and brush. I just painted the insert and immediately went back over with a dry, plain cloth and the red outside the groves wiped right off. Jackie Quote
