Bob_Koch Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 I'm still amazed at where our trucks are found. This one is in Hungary. The article is in Hungarian, but I provided a link if you want a very poor translation. Anyway - great looking truck in a place I never thought to find one. I like the bed. http://totalcar.hu/tesztek/dodgeb48/ http://totalcar.hu/tesztek/dodgeb48!2 Translator: http://www.webforditas.hu/web-translator.php Quote
Merle Coggins Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 Cool truck. Too bad I can't read Hungarian. That's an interesting use of wood on the bed, which appears to be a '53 bed. Were low side beds offered in '53? Also, I love the clock on the right side in place of the speaker grill. Were they an option back then? Maybe I can make one from a spare speedo and a small battery powered clock works. Hmm... I also noticed that it has California plates. Is the truck really in Hungry, or is it just a Hungarian article about a California truck? Who can speak/read Hungarian? Quote
woodscavenger Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 The bed wood treatment is stellar. What is with the doorbell buzzer on the left side of the dash? Quote
Bob_Koch Posted October 24, 2008 Author Report Posted October 24, 2008 I used the translator and it seems to really be in Hungary. It's not unusual for them to be imported from the U.S. A number of people in Europe have contacted me for info and their truck had been shipped from here. Having a Calif license in Europe is like having European plates on a Mercedes or Jaguar here. Quote
Phil Martin Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 Checkout the alignment on that fan belt. Think it would stay on very long or wear out fast. Quote
bkahler Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 I'm curious as to what kind of mirror arm is on the truck. Its screwed in place just in front of the door. Almost like an Advance Design chevy pickup of the era. Brad Quote
old woolie Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 Wrong rear fenders for this truck. Quote
Guest Dave Claussen Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 The use of wood is quite unique. Even the running boards are made from the same wood as the bed sides. The wooden rear bumper gives me some ideas about my own truck-I have no front or rear bumper at all and I will have to come up with a solution to that problem at some point. It looks like maybe the wood is redwood or mahogany. The interior door panels are really different too. All in all I'd say it was a pretty cool truck. I have to say the background sure makes it look like it's in the Midwest someplace with all that corn growing along the road. Iowa or Indiana?! Quote
tinlizzy Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Rear fenders look more like 56 ford's, sure like to have those stainless grille bars for mine. Quote
