pflaming Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Looked through my notes, did not find anything on disc brake conversion. Someone had the mounting plates for sale @ $200. a while back. When all parts are added what is the estimated cost for disc brakes on a 52 BIB 1/2 ton. And what parts will I need? Quote
Don Coatney Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Forum member olddaddy sells the backing plate kits. The other stuff you can buy at any auto parts store. I spent about 500 bucks for everything pictured for my Plymouth P-15. Quote
pflaming Posted October 17, 2008 Author Report Posted October 17, 2008 Found the answer to my question: disc brakes require: a mounting kit: caliper brackets, spacers, hardware, parts list and instructions then: rotors, calipers, pads, bearings, seals, lug nuts, brake hose, banjo bolts, and cotter pins. Jim Roach Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Here is a picture of my disc brakes fully assembled on my bench. Some day I'll get around to installing them. Time is my biggest problem. Good luck:) [/img] Quote
woodscavenger Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Still on your bench.....say it ain't so..... Quote
pflaming Posted October 18, 2008 Author Report Posted October 18, 2008 WOW! How did you get the axle and tie rod to look so new. Did you just polish them with a steel wheel? Quote
carl b51 Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 If you want to up grade but keep the drum brakes the brakes off a 1971 D100 will fit right well . You use from the king pins out . That will give you self ajusters and the same bolt pattern and inexpensive. Carl Quote
