BobT-47P15 Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Just had a call from a local used car dealer I know. He's been babysitting this 1956 Dodge Royal four door for a friend for several years. The friend just passed on. So he called me as he's trying to help the widow dispose of the vehicle. He says it will run.....I've never heard it do so. It is not too bad in many ways, at the same time needs work in most areas. It would say it's well worth the asking price. There is a title, but it has a hitch that may or may not prove to be a big deal. Link to some more pictures: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v96/BobT3/1956%20Dodge/ If I had the play money, I wouldn't mind to have it as you do not see this model on the road around here at all. If interested you can PM me for any details. I can give additional reports on the car if desired as I drive past it every day. Quote
Young Ed Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Dang Bob you are teasing me now! Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 22, 2008 Author Report Posted September 22, 2008 The fellow with the car lot said he would keep the car for a limited time for a buyer.....to allow time to come for it. Quote
Young Ed Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Bob I just looked it up. Just under 600 miles each way for me. Would cost me as much to come get it as the car. Quote
hucks 50 Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 what kind of motor is it . im by st.louis Quote
Young Ed Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Thats a poly v8. In 55 they were 270CI. Might have grown a little by 56. I think the next jump was to 312? BTW you can convert to a hemi if you buy the heads and intake. Quote
Heavy Flat Head Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Darn my tele port machine is broke. Lets see replace knees or buy car? Car wins. Ed. Quote
Young Ed Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 I take it your S10 isnt 4.3L powered? If it is its up to the task. Quote
John Reddie Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 This car is 12 volt system too. This can be fixed up to be really nice. Hopefully the floors and frame are strong. Thanks Bob for posting. John R Quote
Normspeed Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 Heck, the trim pieces are worth $250 alone. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 23, 2008 Author Report Posted September 23, 2008 Per a PM, it looks like we may have a buyer. Quote
Normspeed Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 I sure hope so Bob, that car is too nice to go to waste. Looks straight and solid. Could do a Maaco paint job in the original colors and it would look great. Or how about red and black? Quote
JerseyHarold Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 FWIW, my friend tow-dollies all sorts of dead cars with his S-10 pickup. No problems at all, even with heavy cars over long distances. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 23, 2008 Author Report Posted September 23, 2008 When I called the car lot guy this morning, he said he sold the Dodge on his way to work. To a local police officer as they were getting their coffee. Ah, well. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 24, 2008 Author Report Posted September 24, 2008 Think I'll try to find out which guy bought the car, then keep tabs on it in case he wants to sell later, still at some reasonable price. Hopefully he can get the title straightened out. That would be a definite plus. Quote
