im putting a set of front drums on my car,the drums have the screw in type lugs ,but my old ones have the studs on them already.i was thinking about getting some regular studs and cutting them to length and installing in the drums and tach weld them .good idea or bad.i got the drums from a member here and they are the same diam. just the studs were diff.

It will work just fine; I did the same thing on my 47.

You can buy studs in just about any length you need. They are usually just pressed in on a hydraulic press. No welding involved, thier design has a shoulder with some tapered ribs that retain them in place and prevent twisting when you put the lug nuts on.
