In sorting out my '52 Suburban build, I find I need new hood hinge springs- one is missing, the other tired. The only replacements I can find online are NOS and $75. I would think if you knew the length, strength, spring rate, etc., you could probably replace them with other springs, possibly from a hardware store. Anyone tackle this yet?

I need to install these springs on the hinges of my hood (1949 Chrysler Windsor). Could someone show me a picture of what it looks like once installed? I also welcome any advice on how to install the spring. I believe I know where the spring goes and I indicate it on the picture.

I've had my P15 for about two months now, driving it almost every weekend and having a great time with it. Even the wife likes going for rides! This weekend I spent quite a bit of time under the hood tinkering with things that need attention. What I've noticed is that the hood seems very flexible where it meets the cowl and thought it strange. So I was looking in the service book for images of that area (not many)... I think I might be missing a rib at the back of the hood underside that would act as a stiffener. I don't have the parts manual yet with the exploded diagrams, and was hoping that one of you gents that has one can tell me if I am missing a part of my hood... Thanks! PS, weather and cruising this weekend in central Mass was great!

These recent bouts of 'weather' in southern california are keeping my '47 off the road. I need to seal up my hood & i noticed that the fabric type lacing is gone from the driver's side. Roberts has replacement lacing pretty cheap. Is that the way to go or is there a better solution? They have the cowl rubber that I need too. Has anyone tried theirs before? I'm assuming a little 3M will stick in on well enough. also... it seams that the rain pisses off my engine. After a rainy day I cant get her to start. I figure I should get it sealed up & see what happens then. any ideas? Marquis
