  1. If you are a woodie owner or fan you may have read in this past September’s ‘Woodie Times’, that Ernie Crotty of Visalia and others were in the process of determining the feasibility of starting a woodie chapter in California's Central San Joaquin Valley. The initial response was very good, and they've decided to host a one-day event to get woodie owners and enthusiasts together for some fun, fellowship, and to decide if forming a chapter makes sense. They have selected the date of Saturday, March 10th to hold a woodie car show, barbecue, and cruise in the town of Reedley (near Fresno). They picked this date as it is right in the middle of the local blossoming of fruit, nut, and citrus trees, which combines to put on an exceptional show of nature’s beauty. There is an actual tour route (read woodie cruise) called "Blossom Trail" which consists of miles and miles of some wonderful country roads passing alongside the blossom orchards. This “trail” runs right through Reedley. For a preview, go to the Blossom Trail website: http://www.driveblossomtrail.com. As a P10 woodie owner, I am extending the invitation to our P15 D24 Forum members. Here is the new website http://valleywoodies.com/Home_Page.html and a picture of Ernie's '47 (I think) P15, and my P10 wreck. Bob Riding
  2. I was just looking through the January 2007 Hemmings and low and behold, Jim Yergin's '41 Plymouth woodie is featured in their "Under Restoration" section, entitled "Worn Out Woodie" or "A woody wagon that is knot quite finished" Great article (except it's too short!). Jim; How did you get mixed up with the Hemmings folks? And what's the latest on your progress? (other than the engine problems that you've experienced?) Bob
  3. Thanks Don!
  4. I have reluctantly decided to sell the Dodge (see stats below and in the "Cars For Sale" section). I am still a mopar owner (P10 and P12) and plan to continue to participate in this great forum while I attempt to restore the others. My question; who has had positive experiences with selling cars through Hemmings, or other sites, such as eBay and the various firms that sell for you for a flat fee? I have a friend in Reno who suggested that if I'm not successful through these channels, to take it up to the "Hot August Nights Auction" Whats are your thoughts? Bob 1940 Dodge D14 Business Coupe, in excellent condition. Restored to near stock, (with safety and performance enhancements). California car, no rust. The car was purchased new in 1939 in Fresno. Rated #2 condition. The P25- 230 cu in. engine was rebuilt by Tex Davis in Fresno in 2005, and came out of a 1954 Plymouth Belvedere. It was rated then at 110hp and listed as “the optional high head engine” on cars produced in late ’54. The rebuild enhancements included: • Cylinders overbored 0.060 • Engine block decked • Head surfaced and shaved 0.070 • Connecting rods balanced • Hardened intake valve seats installed • Ported and polished intake and exhaust channels A modern driveline was installed, the flywheel balanced and resurfaced, and new clutch and brakes installed. Fuel delivery is through dual Carter carbs (the setup was purchased from George Asche) with stainless steel linkage. A split manifold, ceramic coated stainless steel headers (purchased from Tom Langdon), new fuel system, reconditioned gas tank, new dual exhaust system were installed. Strong 6 volt electrical system with Petronix HEI distributor, Optima battery, new bright halogen headlights and running lights. Restored 6 volt radio, NOS backup light, Interior near perfect.
