  1. I've got to do the bottoms of my doors and the fender mounts on both sides. Those areas are in rough shape, but surprisingly the rest of the truck is pretty solid. The doors pose the biggest challenge as both the exterior panel and the base inside structure are rotted away to nothing. I've got donor doors for patterns but only 1 of them is straight and true. I'd hoped to just install them as a swap but the drivers door has a lot of damage. I can't use just one of the because the 1950 has a different interior look than my 1951.... I grabbed all the sheet metal I could from the 1950 to aid in repairs of my truck and if anyone needs a complete hood for a 1 ton let me know I have one.
  2. Do you have any photos of the dual master cylinder conversion and could you provide some detail about the actual MC you used? I've seen a ton of vague references to MC upgrades, but very few particulars. I can't find a single vendor that has a bolt on MC conversion for 1948-1953 1/2 ton. The stock mounting position does pose some space and mounting issues. I've seen forum references to Jeep MC both pro and con. I'm a little surprised that vendors make disc brake conversion kits but don't go the extra mile to include a package for the MC and proportioning. I understand we are a small market for vendors, but a lot of people have done this conversion (or want it) is everyone doing a complete custom build?
  3. I know there are after market adjustable proportioning valves out there. I'll bet the guys at Fatman can answer that question. I'm looking at the same process for my truck I plan to box the frame and install the the Fatman Mustang II package with disc brakes. I was surprised by the low price of the coil over conversion and the brake package is roughly what all the rest of the disc conversions are. Was the coil over kit difficult to install or was the frame boxing the hard part? The instructions for the Fatman kit seem straight forward enough and I do have access to a couple of professional welders who can do that work. I'm going to start boxing my frame next week that welding I can do.

  6. It's like most things in life, make the right decision from the beginning and it's less work and frustration in the end. I'm with you I don't really care where the transmission and diff come from, I just want them to work effectively as a package. I also have little interest in OD I want this truck to be a cruiser I'm not planning any long distance driving. I do expect decent response in traffic and the ability to cruise @ 70 mph on the our local freeways. Hell I'd put in a Powerglide and a Ford 9 inch if that was the best package. I'd prefer to stay with Dodge built components, but sometimes you can't to get the results you want.

  8. I thought they were road flares. Road hard and hung up wet, too often.
  9. I just took the front clip off a 1950 Fargo 1 ton and I took a few photos during the removal they might be helpful. Most of it should be fairly obvious with exception of the assorted inner fender skirts and mounting brackets. It all depends on just how far this thing was torn down. I'll post a picture or two hopefully they will help.
  10. Anyone know what these are? I have a guess or or two, but I'm not absolutely sure. I'm curious if anyone else has them mounted on their trucks. These were mounted on the side of the box on a 1950 Fargo 1 ton.
